Start by have your dog go into a sit or a stand. Take a treat and hold it in your hand. Let her sniff it but dont let her have it. Take the treat and lower it to the floor. When the dog is in a down reward her and say down. Then start to say the word down as she goes into a down. Continue to say the word a little bit before she goes into a down. Repeat for a few time a few times each day and in different environments.
